I just picked up 5 of these for my crew. We have used several different brands in the past, but these are hands down our favorite. The unit is very light weight, which is important when you are using it all day. This gun also has a switch that you can flip with your thumb to change it from single fire to contact fire. The other feature that I really like is that it has a reload inidcator that lets you know when you are out of nails.
br /
br /I will update again when we have used them for a few months, but as of right now I couldn't be happier with all the features that this gun has.

I just recieved it yesterday and used it for a few hours today. The nailer is reasonably light. I am used to working with trim carpentry and those nailers are much smaller and lighter than this one. Once I got the feel for it I did not even notice the weight difference. I shoot left handed even though this is really designed for a righty. I did not have ergonomic issues.
br /
br /One thing that I can not stand is why Milwaukee can not just include the 3/8 NPT adapter. I pulled it all out of the box and was bummed I had to go to the store to buy an adapter. All of my spares and couplers are 1/4". Another thing I don't understand is why it can not come with a case. I have 3 other nailers and they all came with cases. In its defense it does come with a rafter hook, which is nice but can get in the way if you do not use it. I would rather have a box.
br /
br /Of course I knew about no box when I bought it. I wanted this nailer and there is no way around it.
br /
br /I shot approx 300 2-3/8" galvinized coated nails today. They were made by grip-rite and had a collation angle of 21 degrees. The gun says only 22 degree nails should be used. Milwaukee only sells 21 degree. Go figure. Basically if anyone is wondering...most all Round Head framers can use any nail that is 20-22 degrees.
br /
br /I had zero jams. I was not bump firing so I do know how it would fare with that. I am sure there would be no problem. The gun can be converted to bumb fire with the twist of a knob. Very cool. The slide mechanism is made of plastic and seems little flimsy. It does its job though. The height adjustment is great. It is effortless and tool less and it worked perfect.
br /
br /I can not imagine this gun having problems with sinking larger nails. I shot every thing at 100psi and it was more than enough to sink these nails deep. Aside from my gripe above the nailer worked perfectly and I would purchase again. If you can live without having a box and running to the store to buy a 3/8 adapter than this gun is of good value.
br /
br /It really deserves 4.5 stars. Milwaukee, the least you could do is include a 3/8" adapter. Thats just being cheap!

Great feel, super light, but made in Taiwan!

I am a General Contractor and I have used a few different framing nailers over the last year. I have tried Porter Cable (I hope you like nail jams), Hitachi (double fire king, but never dies), and Max (could get a really good gun or a piece of jamming crap, just depends on which box comes off the shelf). I purchased the Milwaukee due to raving reviews, but when I received it I saw that it was made in Taiwan. Damn. Unless you want a Bostich (made by Stanley), it looks like you're out of luck when it comes to finding a framing nailer made in America. I almost returned it for the familiar and job site dominant Hitachi, but I decided to keep it and I am very glad I did. The nailer is super light, very, very smooth, and I can adjust it to sink nails in sheathing without breaking the top ply, which is code. It fires very consistently and is surprisingly quiet. It does NOT have that annoying hollow ping that the Hitachi's have. I also chose not to get the Hitachi because it is has a top loading magazine, which is annoying, and the Milwaukee has a much easier and faster rear loading magazine. The Milwaukee does have a lot of plastic on the gun, but so does just about every framing nailer on the market now. I like the 360 degree exhaust, the convenient switch to change from contact fire to sequential, rafter hook included although plastic, and I also like the overall looks of the gun. So far I have only shot about 1,000 nails so I can't comment on it's reliability, but zero jams so far. Only thing that could make this gun better is if Milwaukee didn't sell to a company from Taiwan, and if it had a little less plastic parts.

this is a really nice gun. performed flawlessly all day. light, but with a solid feel. worked side by side with a makita all day and never missed a beat it actually totally out-classed the makita (sorry makita but its true). the rafter hook and select fire are a necessity once you've had them. the only con was the reload indicator stops you with about 5 sinkers left and thats 1 nail too many to be able to drop 2 more strips in. that could get annoying but maybe its adjustable, ill have to check. either way i would not hesitate to buy another.

Bought this tool for the price. Never used a Milwaukee nailer before. I do framing for a living and it works awesome. One note is that I have only had it for a month or so and it does have some plastic parts which may break when the gun drops. The sequential adjust feature is awesome along with the depth adjustment feature.

I bought this gun to replace my POS Porter Cable round head nailer after it broke for the second time. I wish I would have gotten the Milwaukee sooner. Its much lighter than the PC-feels about as heavy as my Porter Cable 15 gauge finish nailer. But it also seems more powerful than the PC. Finally, it has a tool free depth set, belt clip, and it does not have a touchy trigger like the PC. Oh and the price is great. Highly recommended.

I have smaller, finish and brad nailers, and this is my first framing nailer. I did the shopping dance and was wooed by the Milwaukee name and the reviews here and elsewhere. I used the nailer to build a wall and also sister some 2x8 PT lumber to basement ceiling beams above the level of my head, and was very happy with the results. It took a little time to get the depth adjustment right, but once there it was performing as hoped for. Construction of the gun is as good as one would want, and it is a simple matter to load more nails. Btw, I used the less expensive BC Eagle nails without any problems, and best of all, no jams. I would have liked a case for the gun, however. Milwaukee seems to push you in the direction of having to buy a case, whether for a circular saw, drill or this. I keep it in the shipping box it came in, which works for now.
br /
br /As noted by others, the nailer has a 3/8" inlet. Since my compressor hose fitting is 1/4", I was forewarned to buy the adapters to fit my hose to the gun. My compressor is small at 1 gallon, and 3 or 4 shots of the nailer cause it to recycle. As a DIYer, this is not the worst issue I face, but there is enough oomph to drive the nails, which is the bottom line.

I've been a Porter-Cable guy for years. I own 8 of their nailers and about two dozen P-C tools in all. Always being completely satisfied, I was hesitant to go away from them. I've used almost every major brand nailer out there and a lot of them are absolute crap. I decided to try the Milwaukee because it was, at the time, $30 cheaper than the P-C, has a five year warranty, almost a pound and a half lighter and getting good reviews. After framing in a basement I am loving this gun. This gun has impressive power, loads and unloads easily, and at the end of a long day, the pound and a half makes a world of difference when doing all of the soffit work. I wish it came with a case but other than that it is an excellent gun.

Bought the Milwaukee nailer off of Amazon due to its good reviews and the Milwaukee name. I have been using it to frame a 2,000 sf. addition to my house. One thing to realize with the plastic collation that most people warn about is to make sure you wear glasses--shrapnel goes everywhere! I ran about 10,000 nails through it, both 8 and 16d and started having some jams. The bump action has become a little sluggish and the trigger just fell apart due to a retainer coming off. The parts are minimal, it just put me down one nailer that day. It seems with this style of nail, the 8d seem to jam no matter what brand of gun or brand of nail. All in all, not a bad nailer, I'm just waiting to see how it does in the future.

br / What can I say about this gun!...it's a super charged monster nailer that kelp up with me all day and never not even once did it misfire, jam or even cry for mercy.I love this gun!...just to let you know this gun will fire 21 degree sinkers but the box calls for 22's but they are hard to find.

My wife and I knew we wanted to purchase a framing nailer for building an 1800 foot addition. Since we are not pro's using this tool for a living, my first thought was to purchase one of the cheapest guns we could find. But after reading up on guns, I quickly realized that the cheap guns have many drawbacks--they are all heavy, some don't shoot big diameter nails, most don't allow easy bump to single fire changes, and most of the cheap ones don't have good depth adjustment. Some can't even be bothered to include a rafter hook, perhaps hoping you will drop it and have to buy another. I considered every brand except porter cable, which I have a strong bias against. (the 5 worst tools I have used or owned have all been porter cable.)
br /
br /We ended up choosing Millwaukee because it had all the features we wanted and was also the lightest.
br /
br /So far it has worked absolutely perfectly and I can't think of a single negative thing to say about it. My wife can't stop saying how happy she is that we chose the "light one". (she's nailing off sheeting like a pro already!)

I'm a homeowner and am in the midst of framing out a room over my garage. I decided to purchase a framing nailer since I already had a PC compressor that I use with some PC finish nailers.
br /
br /Since I Had the PC combo kit I decided to go with the PC nailer. BTW, all the nailers I looked at received high grades. I went to Home Depot and looked at the PC which they had for $210. My wife came over and said there was another nailer on a floor display for $160. It was the 7100-20. I couldn't believe the price. It's listed on line for $250-$260. For that price I couldn't go wrong. I also picked up some Grip Rite 16D nails and went home to try it.
br /
br /Couldn't be happier. It's relatively light and the only drawback is that there is no case or nipple for the air supply but for the price who cares! Now, I'm not using the gun on a daily basis as a professional would but as a homeowner/DIYer I'm very satisfied.

I purchased this nailer to frame a 500 square foot addition to my home. It works perfectly and accepts any 21 or 22 degree nail. It has never jammed or misfired. It even fell off the roof and still fired perfectly. The only thing that would make the review a 5 would be a case and air adapter included in the box.
br /Shipment was quicker than I expected and the price beat the competitors.
br /Highly recommended.

I purchased this nail gun after much research and mainly reading reviews like this on Amazon. I am not a pro, but am doing a lot of remodeling that will put this gun to the test. I will end up driving thousands of nails and so far after a few hundred I am more than impressed. The lightness of the unit is a big plus. Very easy to handle. As noted in other reviews, it comes bare bones with no case or air connector, but so what. The price is extremely fair. Another great feature is how easy it is to switch from single to bump nailing. I highly reccomend this tool.

I have been using this framing gun for only a few months now, but I couldn't have asked for a better framing nailer so far. It being light weight is a big plus. I had a Porter Cable 350MAG but I much prefer the Milwaukee 7100-20.

As a first time user of a framing nailer, the Milwaukee 7100-20 didn't disappoint. Once I found out that it will accept a range of nails (20-22°), it was smooth sailing. Reliable, easy to use, and jam-free. Even though it didn't come with a case, I would recommend this nailer enthusiastically.

I bought this gun after reading several reviews and I'm glad I got it! Good price, light weight, well balanced and not a single jam yet. I used it to build a scaffold on the end of my house with Hitachi 3 1/4" nails, then 2 1/2" nails to apply the hardy board siding. Quick, easy, and accurate adjustment for nail depth. I couldn't be happier, and can't wait till my next project.

I'm not a professional carpenter so I don't have much to compare this to. I have used a nailer only a few times in the past. I must say that I am VERY happy with this product. It's very light and very easy to use. It seems to have plenty of power for standard wood and pressure treated. It kicks back very little and is pretty quiet. It seems pretty well made (although Made in Taiwan, not USA like most Milwaukee) but I'm not sure how well it would hold up for a production framing crew. I know it works great for homeowner-type use and you can't beat the price!

I shot a full box plus of 3.5" and 2" nails on a large fencing project, and it worked perfectly. This is such a value for the price. It has plenty of power to drive ,and nice light weight. It blows my old Craftsman away. I read others say they were concerned about plastic parts, but mine has dropped repeatedly and suffered no broken parts. I am looking forward to trying the finish nailers as well!.

Light, fast, and so far rugged.

I am a building contractor and seem to buy a new nail gun about every other year, having used mostly Senco nailers in the past. Most of my electric tools, such as drills, sawzalls, etc. are Milwaukee so I decided to give the Milwaukee nail gun a try. It arrived about a month ago. I was surprised by how much of it was plastic, but put it to work. For the most part it worked fine. This weekan employee was using it and somehow a driven nail ended up twisting around and catching under the driving pin. With other nailers, I had been able to drive the pin back to free the nail. I was not able to remove this nail, even after disasembling the nailer. All I can do is invest in a new nailer and it won't be a Milwaukee. If I could have given zero stars, that would have been my rating.

My Milwaukee 7100-20 has just arrived. I'm suppressed that it is Made in Taiwan, They didn't tell me that at nether Amazon nor Milwaukee website until the box is opened. Similar nailer from Bostitch, Made in U.S.A. ( they say so in Technical details ) same price range.
