First off. I do not do roofing full time, I am a remodeler, I do a few houses a year. The guy I work with has the Hitachi NV45AB but we needed to have another gun this fall. I buy nothing but high quality tools, and most professional roofers use the Hitachi. I did a lot of comparing before I decided on this gun. The thing that got me was the price, I got a very good deal on this gun from the contractor tool store.
br /After using this gun and the Hitachi NV45AB on three roofs last month(about 100 square), here are my observations. (I have used the Hitachi for a few years)
br /The Milwaukee is lighter without a doubt, much nicer to carry around all day.
br /The nail loading mechanism is much nicer on the Milwaukee. You only have to open the feed flip, and the coil comes open too. The hitachi has a separate clip to open the coil, and it is underneath so you have to turn the gun upsidedown to load it. (that may seem like not a big deal, but when you are putting in a new coil every 5 minutes it is a big deal)(I believe hitachi's new nailer has the side load mechanism as well)
br /The rubber side grips are nice, it will stay on a 7/12 pitch.
br /You can move the shingle guide without an allen wrench.
br /It shot 1-3/4 nails much better than the hitachi.
br /I am not sure why they put sequential and bump firing modes on this gun. If you want to have any speed at all you will always use bump mode. Anyways, that isnt a problem, it just seems strange on a roofing gun.
br /
br /It is comfortable to use, and I never had any jams. It comes with a nice molded case.

Recently bought this and have just finished two small roofs. ZERO jams, consistant depth (even with a "cheesy" compressor), and really easy to load and adjust. TRUTH IN ADVERTISING NOTE: This is my first roofing nailer, so I can't compare it to Bostich, PC, Senco..., but I'm really impressed with how well this one works. I expected some random problems, but so far have had NONE.

this roofing nailer is nearly perfect. i couldn't imagine a thing to change. go to a good store and feel the difference in balance and feel to all the other tools. this one was lighter than every other roofing nailer that i tried, and many by a large margin. It shoots to a consistent depth every time too! Used it to roof a 2500 sf roof (used over 10k nails) and it didn't jam once, and very rarely (likely more my fault) it has a mis-fire

I was a little apprehensive about purchasing a tool that is brand new to the market, but having owned and operated various Milwaukee power tools for a number of years, and reading other reviews of this specific coil nailer, I decided to give it a go. I am a professional contractor and have used Porter Cable coil roofing nailers before trying the Milwaukee. I found the Milwaukee to be very smooth, and experienced minimal jams. It also required less air pressure to achieve proper nail driven depth, although this posed to be an issue as I was running Porter Cable nailers on the same line. I added an additional pressure regulator and took care of that problem. The bumpers on the gun proved to be useful a number of times and prevented the gun from sliding off the roof. I gave the nose attachment a whirl (for auto-positioning the nails by butting the attachment up against the shingle edge) but found it to be an annoyance as well as slowing me down. Coil changes were very easy - quicker and smoother than the Porter Cable. I'll replace one of my PC guns with another Milwaukee when it fails.

This tool, no doubt, paid for itself during the first project. A great time saver and, without qualification, this is a real pro tool but affordable for a large diy challenge. Rather than hire done what I can do myself, I buy the tool with some of the savings. I usually get a higher quality result although the job takes a lot longer and now I own the tool. P.S. Consumer Reports rated this nailer one of the best values and I must agree after using it.
Milwaukee should provide a quick release nipple

First off...my ownly complaint is the Milwaukee does not provide a quick release nipple to thjread into the air port. To complicate matters, the air port is not the commonly used 1/4 thread, but rather a 3/8 thread. So you need to locate and purchase both a 3/8 -to- 1/4 reducer bushing and also the quick release nipple. Once got past this problem, I was very pleased with the gun. It is light, easly to operate and well designed in terms of both selector switches for nail depth and sequential firing. Definately a very good value for the money.

Have put a full box (7200) of nails through this, and so far no issues (other than cheap nails giving me a couple feeding issues). It fires nicely, and has kept up with the bostitch nailers that have been on the roof with it. On a side note, I was quite surprised at the quality of the goggles that came with the gun. I actually like to wear them.

I have used several nailers including Hitachi. THis worked as well as any I have used. It is light weight and had two slight jams that were easy to clear out of the 15,000 nails it ate in its first three days of use. The two jams may have been (probably) from a bend in the nail coil and not the fault of the gun. Loading is super fast. I would highly reccomend.

I've been extremely happy with this nailer. I purchased it to do the roof on a 10'x12' shed, and couldn't have been more pleased.
br /
br /Pros:
br /
br /* The nailer is extremely comfortable
br /* Loading the nails was a breeze
br /* Skid plates protect the nailer's body
br /* Using a small Porter-Cable compressor, not a single nail was left high
br /* The nailer looks great
br /* This is my 1st roofing nailer, and this job was my 1st time using one. It was easy enough to use that even a novice like myself could handle it.
br /
br /Cons:
br /
br /* There are other less-expensive options out there. From the other nailer's reviews, and my opinion after using this gun, I still think it's the best value.
br /* The gun doesn't come with a quick-connect. I had to make a run to the hardware store to purchase one. A minor issue, but I can't understand why an adapter was not factory-installed...
br /
br /Buy this gun. You'll love it, and you'll be glad you didn't buy one of the lesser-quality options, or the higher-priced overkill's.

I bought this nail gun to roof my house. I have used many of them in the past with mixed results. The best of them were very heavy, the worst of them jammed so many times it would have been faster to use a hammer. This one was a real surprise to me however. It is the best of all worlds. It is very light, the size is great, and during my roofing project of 3000 sq ft. it jammed only ONE TIME!! (And I am certain it was my own fault.)
br / I found the nail depth adjustment pretty much useless, unless I was looking for a VERY small amount of adjustment. I found it is better to just drop your PSI about 10 PSI each time until you get the perfect depth you want. Other than that it was flawless. Easy to use, SUPER easy to load. I seldom ever heard my air compressor kick on, it is very efficient.
br / I was going to list it and resell it when I was done, but not a chance now. I will keep this thing until I die! I just used it again last weekend to reside part of my sisters house. Just adjust the PSI and leave the nails out a tad. Its accurate placement of the nails made the job go super fast. This one is a winner for sure, and WELL WORTH the cost of it. You wont be disappointed.

We are on our sixth mansard roof with this gun and like it a lot. The old Senco stays in the bin. It has a good feature set - dial-a-depth, single shot or bump fire selector, swivel exhaust, quick setting exposure gauge, etc. Light weight. I hope they come out with a siding nailer. Need one.
br /
br /Compare the prices of the other roofing nailers and you will see that this is a great buy.
br /
br /One thing it needs is a rafter hook. Just added one so I can hook it in my hammer loop when I need both hands. On a 12/12 we are not setting anything down on the roof.
br /
br /With our 15g gas compressor we find that we can fill the tank, shoot 3-4 rows, then fill again. Love the quiet - and we save gas and reduce our carbon footprint (which is sooo Green.)

To be honest, I have never owned a roofing gun before so I have nothing to compare it to but the price was nice so I thought i would give it a whirl and see if it would speed up a roofing project I had. 36 squares later...worked perfectly, I especially like how light the gun is. It never jammed once and the only time it ever misfired was when I stuck some coils that had were misshapen and sort of "out-of-round" Hope this helped.

What caught my eye with this tool was the high quality I've seen in other Milwaukee tools and the overwhelming positive reviews online. Then there was the price! I couldn't find one of these in the local box stores or the specialty air-tool shops that love to promote Hitachi and Max. In fact, I couldn't find ANY Milwaukee nailers locally. Of course, those other brands cost 2-3 times MORE so their must be a reason to buy them?? I own several Hitachi guns and honestly love them. I thought I would find a reason to buy another Hitachi over this gun but just couldn't I was skeptical when I found this online for $120 new, and with a very nice case even, but decided to go with it anyway. The fit, finish, balance, and reliability are great. so-far so-good. I wonder why Hitachi can't use paint that lasts more than two weeks? Do you think it's that lead toy-paint they use in China? Overall I'm very pleased with this Milwaukee nailer. I only wish their framing nailer came with a similar case... I'd buy it immediately if it did. You would think contractors would insist on a case to keep their tools protected and out of the shop? Now if Milwaukee steps up their market coverage with pneumatic nailers and manufactures a siding gun, a cap-nailer, and maybe a coil-framing gun??? I think they will do very well.

We got this nailer a couple weeks ago and we love it. It is light weight and feels good in your hand. The depth adjusement is nice as well. One thing this nailer has that I haven't seen mentioned is that there is a magnet that holds the nails into place during reloading. We will see about the durability, but so far I am loving this tool.

Another winner from Milwaukee. Seven squares went down with one miss, which was not the nailers fault. Hit a spike and bent the nail. Removed it from the gun and went right back to work. Light and with a good balance. It will match our green and orange nailers. Highly recommend it.

Bought this to help reroof my garage which is now complete. At first I had a terrible time with jamming - basically every other shot or two would not feed and I would have to dry fire to get the gun to cycle. Tried oil which helped but not for long. The shots that did go in were fine. After a while I turned up the pressure (to something around 100 psi - don't remember exactly) and the feed problems went away and the gun worked flawlessly. I had set the pressure on the low end at first because I did not want to overdrive the nails. The depth setting didn't seem to affect the depth as much as the way the gun was held - may be obvious to some but I learned that if I pressed the gun into the shingle throughout the shot, I tended to overdrive more nails. Holding the gun a little looser and going quickly from shot to shot resulted in flush nails. I have used other roofing nailers in the past and this one worked just as well or better and was less expensive.
An Awesome Nailer!

I bought this based on Amazon reviews. I was looking for a nailer for putting down cement board in my kitchen and soon putting down new roof. With its first thousand nails put in through 1/2" hardibacker board, I have to say this thing is surprisingly light and powerful. I compared it to my friend's $300 Hitachi, and he even had to admit that the Milwaukee had the Hitachi beat in every way that matters. The adjustable and removable shingle stop is a nice feature as well. I just can't find anything bad to say about this nailer, and it even comes with some cool sunglasses for working up on the roof.

I was very disapointed with this roofing nail gun because you can't buy nails that work in it. The nails I order that were suppose to be for this gun did not work. The gun jamed after every shot. I called the manufacture of Milwakee tools to find out where I can get the nails for this gun. They said they stopped making this gun and they didn't know where I could get nails for it. I went all over looking for nails to fit this gun with no luck. So if you buy this gun you'll have to use it as a paper weight.

I am not a pro. I have done 6 or so roofs over the last two years all of those with a P/C. I have done one small roof since getting this gun. I would say that the Milwaukee and the P/C are very comparable. Both professional grade quality tools. The Milwaukee did not plink out the last nail in every coil like the P/C does. Also, it came with a sturdy carrying case and safety glasses. So I would give Milwaukee the non. One thing to note, the quick connect is 1/4 x 3/8 (3/8 being the threaded end), not the more standard 1/4 x 1/4. Why 4 stars and not 5? For 5 stars it should put the nails in itself.
