I am a general contractor who builds high end homes in the Boston area. In the summer I purchased two new Bostitch N62 finish nailers on the advice of my local tool shop. My trim crew has never been happier. The tool is incredibly light, yet has more power and less recoil than the Senco and Porter Cable tools we were using. Anyway, I didn't think they would be able to top the N62 until we picked up our new N88 High Powered framing nailers last month! We use a lot of LVL and TimberStrand products. Our Hitachi and Senco framing nailers always left us pulling out our hammers to finish off the nails in the rim joists. The N88 simply buries them in any material...every time! The push-button depth control is the slickest thing we've seen in a long time, almost as equally impressive as the N62's releasable magazine! The magazine even loads from the top or rear! Again, despite being so powerful, there is virtually no recoil and it is by far the lightest framing nailer we have every used! Sweet! Bostitch really has their act together with their new tools. Anyone want to buy some used Senco or Hitachi tools? Oh yeah, almost forgot I'm waitng for my free palm nailers...these things sell for $149 on this site! That's one sweet deal.

I'm sort of petite girl who's been building theatre scenery for the past four years. My boss recently decided to buy the N88 for our shop and my days don't seem nearly as long now that I'm using a nailgun that weighs less than eight pounds. There are two reasons I am not giving this product five stars. First, the light weight makes this gun recoil. If you're not prepared for it, it'll bite you, so be careful. Once you get a feel for it, it's not a problem at all. The second drawback is that the anti-slip foot for the gun is made of plastic and easily broken. It is also easily replaced. Beyond these two problems, this gun is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone, with a small warning to watch out for kickback.

This nailer, even on my 5HP air compressor with a cranky regulator that frequently cuts the air out at 95 PSI, still never fails to drive even 16-Penny nails well into the wood. It is lightweight, easy to work with, and always dependable. This gun has serious power, and the recoil issue some have complained about is easily remedied by disabling the contact trip mechanism with the included kit. Even in tough manufactured lumber or engineered trusses of thick Southern Yellow Pine, this gun countersinks every time. In fact, on a few occasions I've neglected to set the countersink correctly when nailing through OSB or plywood sheathing, and after placing 20 or 30 nails in a panel, watched in confusion as it fell out or slid away, then realizing that with the gun set to full countersink, it had fired the fasteners completely through the sheathing and into the framing below. Definitely a tool to last for years and one for the pro's. At $..., especially with the often included free palm nailer, it is an excellent value. I've seen nothing else that comes close to its performance, especially at under 8 lbs!

People aren't kidding about the power of this gun!

All the features on this gun work great. The gun is very light, and it has the power! All day i have been shooting nails into Southern Yellow Pine. This lumber is about the toughest lumber to set nails into.. Its all stamped SEL DEN . that is a very heavy, tight grained hard lumber.. and im amazed that it will sink a 3" framing nail into 2 plies of yellow pine, every time. and at full power, it will sink the head of the nail about a quarter inch into the wood. Try that with any other gun.. It won't happen!

I originally purchased a Bostitch model 79 nailer. It was awfull! It misfired, jammed, and routinely failed to drive a 16 penny nail completely into the surface. I returned it and ordered the N88. It has been outstanding. It is lighter than most framing nailers, but has great power. It easily countersinks 16 penny nails and has yet to jam or misfire on me. I highly recommend this nailer.

I recently purchased the N88WW to replace my old 20 year old bostitch framing gun and was very disapointed with the way it operates I could not sink 16d nails into the LVL's that we were using and had the pressure on the compressor at 110 lbs. I tried toe nailing some studs with 8d nails and had the same problem. I then took out my old nailer and had no problems with it sinking the nails into the LVL's and other lumber. I think they miss labeled this gun high power.I returned the gun and decided to tune up the old one and continue to use it. Eventuly I will buy a framing gun but not a new bostitch.

Will they ever get it right???

I ordered one of these N88WW's, I was shipped an N88WWB. The main difference is that the N88WW can be top and rear loaded with a bypass pusher for the nails for quick loading of the nails. I already have one of these (N88WW) I have been using for the past two years.

br /Anyway, when I stated this Amazon has 2nd day mailed me a new nail gun. I open the box to find an N88WWB again???
br /
br /Before purchasing the N88WWB I would consider buying 2 N88RH-MCN nailers. These shoot round head nails and have a quick-change head for installing metal re-enforcers.

This is my first stick nailer. I reviewed a lot of nailers before I decided on this one and am very happy with my choice. As a home improvement enthusiast, I have been using this nailer to finish off some framing in a spare room for about a month, and am very impressed. The nailer is lightweight, easy to use and adjust. I have yet to have the nailer jam and have had only a few nails that were driven short. It sure beats swing a hammer all day, and makes toe nailing breeze. I definately would by this nailer again.

Power galore...

Without taking up a lot of space - let me get right to the point. Out of the box 3 1/2 inch nails driven into a stack of (two) pressure treated 2x4's like butter, even countersunk. Lightwieght, considering the competition 7.8lbs. This is one powerful gun. Packs a big kick (something to get used to). Plus I got a free palm nailer with my purchase and that's a handy little tool. You'd be hard pressed to find a better Pnuematic nailer and the price is right...

This is the first time I bought a framing nailer so I have nothing to compare it to. I have been looking for any gun rated 5 stars by people who use these types of guns day in and day out, this wasn't 5 stars, but first impression, it should have been. I used it to put together several shelves, let me tell ya, like butta! This gun push clipped head nails through 2x4's like nothing. I finished the project in half the time it would have taken me to hand nail. My next project is a pool deck, the main reason for my purchase, I'll be back to let you know how it went. For the professional, I'm not sure how you would get this big honker around corners during a construction project??? Overall and out of the box A+++++++++++++

We have used this gun for several years building storage sheds. So far we have never had to take one in for repair as far as I can remember despite falling off roofs and being used as a sledge hammer.(I still try to discourage using them for a sledge hammer)Quite a statement since we have several guys using them every day constantly. The only issue would be if you try to use a 16 penny nail or bigger the nails sometimes hang up in the magazine. I would definatly recomend this one.

An excellant purchase for the beginner or the expert. Whether shooting 16D or 8D nails the depth adjustment is fast and easy and delivers the desired depth every time. This gun has plenty of power, enough to drive a 16D 3 1/2" nail into an LVL and even counter-sink it. The light weight yet sturdy construction is a definate advantage when using this tool for extended periods of time. Well worth the price, and the palm nailer I got with it is a time saver as well.

The technical specifications said a palm nailer was included, I confirmed that with Amazon customer service and have an email that says it was included. Guess what? I got the package and no palm nailer. The damn box even has a cutout for the palm nailer I missed the same offer at a Seattle home improvement store to save $10 and a trip on the ferry. Stanley says it is the problem of Amazon, Amazon says it is Stanley's problem.Amazon says "send it back!", thanks a lot. I already missed the other offer and I'd have to wait for a credit and still make the trip into town to buy the same damn framing nailer without the palm nailer (because the other offer has now expired!). I told Amazon to stand behind what they sell and send me a palm nailer, any palm nailer. The Senco, Porter Cable, Tradesman or Bostitich will do just fine. We will see, I'll edit if they back their product up. This is a huge deal! This item costs around $80 - $90 if purchased separately. My hopes are not very high though. You know whose problem this really is? Mine. So far no ownership from Amazon.OK here is an update. Amazon sort of stood behind it. They will not let me say how (edited out my comments on the last update). It works very well, I have the first floor of my addition done in a very short time. Hasn't jammed once. Also it is very light and easy to handle. An issue though. A 28 degree clipped head, wire collated nail is not the most common in the world. They are a little hard to come by. There are also applications that a clipped headed nail cannot be used (some siding applications). If I had it to do over again I would have gone with the round headed 22 degree. The Bostich though. My friend, who is in the trades, thought the body of it was plastic, it was so light. It is magnesium.

From other reviews on this site, it seems that sometimes you get the bonus Palm nailer, sometimes you dont. I also did not get mine and also could have gotten the same deal from Lowes locally but now have missed this opportunity. Amazon.com is going to lose my business 4-ever if this is not corrected.

It works like a John Deere . Right up there with SnapOn.
