A Professional framing nailer. Easy to adjust nail depth. Handy built-in hook for hanging on truss's while climbing. Plenty of power to drive any nails. Easy to reload and I am into my 5th case of 3.25 "Senco" nails without a jam. Hopefully by taking care of this new nailer it will build as many houses as my last one. Well worth the money for professional use....

One serious framer....

I like everything about this gun except it often doesn't sink the 16d nails. It is nowhere as good a gun as my Bostich or the Hitachi I owned 10 years ago.Since sinking nails is the name of the game I say don't buy this gun.

I frame and finish high end homes on the lakefront of Lake Tahoe. I am a general contractor and I have been building for over 30 years. I have used all the other nailers. As far as I am concerned, Senco sets the standard. I have had this nailer for about a month now. It has performed very well so far. No complaints. So what if it does not come with a case. A pro tool should be durable enough to be put away at the end of the day without pampering. A case takes up too much room in your toolbox. If it did come with a case then I would most likely throw the case away. The reviewer that complained that it jammed too much was an admitted amateur. The directions say to oil the nailer twice a day. Any carpenter worth his salt knows that if a nailer starts misbehaving then it is time to give it a little oil.
I like the rafter hook that came standard. I also added a Senco hook ($5.00) that fits on the air fitting because it is a better hook for hanging on my nail bags. The depth gauge can be set without a tool which is nice. It comes with a flush tip which is nice when you need to nail off sheathing. It is very important that the nails not be set too deep to pass shear nail inspection. When the flush tip is removed, then there is a nice toenail tip that has aggressive dogs for everyday framing.
It is a little heavier than the Hitachi, Ridgid, Bostich and the Porter Cable but I don't care much about that because I know that Senco tools are heirloom. If lightweight tools were that important to me then I might be an architect or an engineer or a DIY and not just some salt of the earth carpenter. I treat my tools with respect, but they need to be heavy duty too just in case.
The default tip is the sequential tip. That is fine with me because I like to aim every nail I place. For "nailing off", there is an optional bounce tip trigger that comes with the nailer.
Senco makes the best quality nails and they work the best with the Senco nailer. If you use generic nails then they work too but sometimes because of inferior tolerances they may jam more often.

I had another nailer that was well used and it jammed and I bought this one to complete a new garage. It performed very well and we got the job done a lot easier than by hand.

Most power tools I have purchased come with a hard carrying case. Not this one. I like the gun, but it should come with a case.

Not worth it - Get a Hitachi

I got it brand new from Home Depot last week. I bought it because I need a nailer to build my shed and I have heard Senco is the nailer of pro choice, and I expect "you get what you pay for" as this model is not cheap.pIt only shoot less than 600 2 3/8" nails in the week. It jamed once in the first 100 shots. (OK to me.) Then the problem started developing more seriously. At the end, it jammed 3 times in 10 minutes. I couldn't continue my work. I hammered some nails manually and send the unit back to Home Depot.pBTW, I bought Hitachi NR83A from HD afterward. It is very reliable, lighter than the above Senco, and even...cheaper. Highly recommended.pEric.
